Eight local government units (LGUs) in Cebu’s seventh district received a total of P120.7 million in infrastructure assistance from the Cebu Provincial Government as part of Gov. Gwen Garcia’s policy of equitably distributing resources of the Capitol to aid growth and development in the countryside.
The Governor personally handed the checks during the Caravan of Government Services held at the Ronda Municipal Gym on March 7. She was joined by Congressman Peter John Calderon, Provincial Board Members Cesar Baricuatro, Jerome Librando, Stanley Caminero, and Glenn Soco; as well as Ako Bisaya Partylist second nominee Carissa Garcia.
The host town of Ronda received P14.9 million in infrastructure funds, with Mayor Terence Mariano Blanco’s office receiving P8 million; Vice Mayor Rocky Gabatan’s office getting P3 million; and the Municipal Council securing P3 million for their various infrastructure projects. Additionally, three barangays in the town were given P300,000 each for their own projects.
Dumanjug received a similar allocation of P14.9 million, with Mayor Gungun Gica’s projects receiving P8 million in aid; Vice Mayor Wado Gica’s projects allocated P3 million; and the Municipal Council’s projects receiving P3 million in assistance. Three barangays in the town were likewise granted P300,000 each.
The same amount of P14.9 million was received by Alcantara. Of the figure, Mayor Fritz Lastimosa’s office got P8 million; while P3 million was allotted to the projects of Vice Mayor Larry Llenos; and another P3 million for the Municipal Council projects. Three barangays in the municipality also received P300,000 each in aid.
Moalboal secured P14.6 million in assistance, with P8 million set aside for the projects of Mayor Inocentes Cabaron; P3 million for the projects of Vice Mayor Paz Rozgoni; and another P2.7 million for the projects of the Municipal Council. Three barangays in the town were also given P300,000 each for their individual projects.
Badian received a total of P15.2 million, where P8 million was allocated for the programs of Mayor Carmencita Lumain; P3 million for the programs of Vice Mayor Doris Silvano; and P3.3 million for the programs of the Municipal Council. An additional P300,000 was set aside for each of three barangays in the town.
The Municipality of Alegria was also granted P15.2 million, with Mayor Gilberto Magallon’s office receiving P8 million; Vice Mayor Verna Magallon’s projects getting P3 million, and the Municipal Council’s projects receiving P3.3 million. Three barangays were also provided with P300,000 each.
Malabuyoc received the same amount, with P8 million going to the projects of Mayor Erlinda Piedad; P3 million allocated for the projects of Vice Mayor Ann Alosada; and P3.3 million for the projects of the Municipal Council. Three barangays were also granted with P300,000 each for infrastructure projects.
Ginatilan received the highest allocation, amounting to P15.8 million. Mayor Roy Vincent Cinco’s projects were granted P8 million in aid; Vice Mayor Dean Michael Cinco’s projects received P3 million; and the Municipal Council’s projects were allotted P3.3 million. Five barangays were given P300,000 each in assistance.
The utilization of these funds will strictly be for infrastructure programs that would benefit the community for years to come. The funds shall also be subject to the stringent auditing requirements of COA. | BJR
