President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. attended the capsule-laying and groundbreaking ceremony of the Mactan Expo Center on Saturday, April 27.
Gov. Gwen Garcia and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan joined the president and Megaworld executives in the event.
Megaworld is spending P1.5-billion for the facility that is slated for completion by 2025.
It boasts a seating capacity of nearly 3,000 in a theater-style setup and will become Cebu's sole stand-alone convention and exposition center with its own beachfront located at The Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City.
“By tapping the huge potential of the Meetings, Incentives and Exhibitions or the MICE sector, the Mactan Expo Center
will enable us to generate more employment and business opportunity to solidify our position as an events destination, and entice even more investments,” President Marcos said in his speech. | BJR
