𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗯𝗼 𝗧𝗩, the Cebu Provincial Government’s first broadcast media is back on air after more than decade of hiatus.
On Tuesday, June 27, during the opening of Cine Cebu Television Network (CCTN) headquarters in Bantayan Island, Sugbo TV, was re-launched.
CCTN held the blessing and inauguration of their office in the Municipality of Bantayan, bringing cable TV and internet services to the island, with Gov. Gwen Garcia as the guest of honor.
The occasion also became the soft launching of 𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗯𝗼 𝗧𝗩, which will have a new home on Chanel 3 on CCTN cable TV, and will be broadcasting all over Visayas and Mindanao areas.
CCTN founding chairman Nonito “Tatay Dodong” Limchua offered the channel to the Capitol at no cost to the government, during a meeting with Gov. Garcia on June 15.
This marks the return of Capitol-produced television news and magazine programs since Sugbo TV went off air in 2012 when Gov. Garcia was suspended in the waning months of her third term.
𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗯𝗼 𝗧𝗩 will carry Cebu Province’s News and Lifestyle programs that will feature the latest happenings in Cebu Province, and everything beautiful and amazing about Cebu and the Cebuanos. The channel will feature, 𝑺𝒖𝒈𝒃𝒐 𝑵𝒆𝒘𝒔, Capitol’s official news program.
Other shows that will be brought back are aimed to give both locals and tourists information about Cebu’s culture, arts, fashion, food, tourism, and history such as 𝙆𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙣, 𝙂𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙤 𝙎𝙖 𝙎𝙪𝙜𝙗𝙤, 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙤𝙮-𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙤𝙮, among others.
It was in February of 2008 when Cebu’s first television news and magazine program, “Sugbo”, went on air over CCTN Channel 47 for 30 minutes every morning.
This time, Sugbo will not only be a 30-minute program on Channel 47 but will have a dedicated 24-hour television channel, the 𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗯𝗼 𝗧𝗩 - 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲.
