Gov. Gwen Garcia led the groundbreaking of the P59.1 million road concreting project connecting Barangay Caputatan Norte and Barangay Dalingding in Medellin town, northern Cebu.
Fourth district Congresswoman Janice Salimbangon, Board Members Carmela Minuel Franco and Kerrie Shimura, Medellin Mayor Joven Mondigo Jr., Vice Mayor Al Lim, Brgy. Captain Relande Pilapil, and councilors joined the governor during the event.
The concreting project hopes to provide an improved 2.6-kilometer road that connects the Barangay Caputatan Norte and Dalingding all the way to the town proper highway.
It measures 6.1 meters in width and has cement thickness of 9 inches.
This development, a first in the barangay, passes by an elementary school and is said to be of great help not only to the students and teachers but to all residents as well whose primary mode of transportation is motorcycle.
“Daghan gyud kaayo makapahimulos ani nga karsada. Dako kaayo namo nga kalipay kay gikan baya ngari ngadto sa Poblacion, kani gyud mao’y agi-anan. Dili kay mga estyudante ra, tanan ari moagi diri,” teacher Sylvia Luna, a resident of Dalingding, told Sugbo News.
Barangay Captain Pilapil added that this project would pave the way for their agriculture-focused barangay into one that can now welcome housing and commercial developers in the future.
Road concreting has always been a priority of Gov. Gwen’s administration since it is essential in uplifting the lives of the Cebuanos, making their mobility easier and more convenient. | Ulrika R. Wagas
