Sugbo News, the official media arm of the Cebu Provincial Government, on Friday, April 28, unveiled its newly retrofitted news center, equipped with a refreshing, creative, and smart look.
The launching was graced by Gov. Gwen Garcia, Vice Gov. Hilario Davide III, Provincial Board members, and Sugbo News head Paula Mendoza.
The event started with a blessing of the news center officiated by Rev. Msgr. Trinidad Silva.
The new headquarters of Sugbo News is located on the 3rd floor of the Provincial Capitol’s Executive Building. The facility now houses a studio for broadcast recording and well-furnished newsroom.
Gov. Gwen was also joined by the organization’s working staff, including writers, video editors, and photographers.
“We have come a long way from when we started,” Gov. Garcia told the Sugbo News staff, reminiscing the old days when the she herself would record voice-overs for some select audio-visual presentations in some corner with a dysfunctional computer unit.
During the same event, Gov. Gwen also inducted the new officers of the Cebu Association of City and Municipal Public Information Officers or CAOCAMPIO. They also witnessed the launching of the new facility, with Philippine Information Agency in Central Visayas Fayette Riñen.
Since its inception in 2019 when Gov. Garcia came back to the Capitol for a historic fourth term, Sugbo News has become a primary source of news and information about the programs, policies, and projects of the Cebu Provincial Government.
In time, it has gained the trust and confidence of the local and national media that Sugbo News outputs are quoted on a daily basis in news reports of mainstream media institutions. | Carlo Lorenciana
