A beauty contest for cats will be held in Mandaue City on August 25 and 26 this year.
Mandaue City First Lady Sara Cortes, with representatives from World Cat Federation (WCF), told Gov. Gwen Garcia in a visit at the Capitol on Thursday that an international pool of judges will be coming over from Ukraine, Poland, and Ireland for the event which will be held at the Mandaue City Sports Center.
The contest is open to all proud fur parents out there who will be given an opportunity to showcase the beauties and talents of their beloved pets in the big competition. The public may also adopt stray cats and dogs during the event, which is brought to Cebu for the first time.
WCF, which was founded in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, is a global federation of cat clubs which has 280 affiliated associations worldwide today.
In an interview with Sugbo News, Cortes is optimistic of the event’s tourism impact, saying that these judges will most likely bring their families during the event and will tour around Cebu. | CL
