The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) has expressed its intent to join the quarterly Caravan of Services of the Provincial Government.
Undersecretary Terence Calatrava, who heads the OPAV, told Gov. Gwen Garcia on possible collaboration between the former’s office and Capitol.
OPAV wants to bring the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program of the national government to the caravan.
Kadiwa is a market linkage facilitation program of the Department of Agriculture aimed at making products such as rice, fish, poultry and livestock, fruits and vegetables, and other basic commodities accessible and affordable to the poor.
OPAV’s interest to join the Capitol-initiated caravan comes after it also recently launched the “Bayan Bangon Muli (BBM): A Caravan of Government Services for the People of the Visayas.”
The BBM caravan will be held in various areas in the Visayas with the aim of making government services more accessible to the public.
Gov. Gwen said that with Capitol’s caravan, OPAV, for instance, will be able to help more beneficiaries and more often considering that it’s being done every quarter.
In total, Capitol holds 40 caravans in a year across the province to bring much-needed assistance to the grassroots.
Since then, the caravan has seen the growing number of national state agencies joining the event to bring their respective services closer to the people.
