The barangay captains of the Municipality of Barili in southern Cebu had an informal yet intimate meeting with Gov. Gwen Garcia and the regional director of National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Jennifer Bretaña on March 6.
It was an important meeting for the barangay captains and the NEDA regional director since both parties belong to the opposing ends of spectrum, with the barangay captains charged with caring for the smallest local government unit which is the barangay; while NEDA is the national government’s independent socioeconomic planning body that is regarded as the authority in macroeconomic forecasting, policy analysis, and research, providing high-level policy advice to the President and the Houses of Congress.
Joining Governor here were Barili Mayor John-John Garcia, Board Member Glenn Soco, DILG Provincial Director Jesus Sastrillo, and Ako Bisaya Partylist second nominee Carissa Garcia.
Governor Gwen asked the barangay captains about updates on the ongoing Capitol-funded infrastructure projects in their localities. The meeting took place after having dinner in Barili where the Caravan of Government Services had just been held for the constituents of the third district.
Among the important projects discussed during the informal dialogue were various provincial and barangay road concreting projects that are being implemented by the Capitol in Barili; as well as the bulk water supply system for the town.
