PORO, CEBU — This town marked another milestone with the ground breaking ceremony of “Hapitanan sa Sugbo” on February 28.
Gov. Gwen Garcia and Mayor Gary Rama along with the municipal officials broke ground of the new facility which will serve as a welcoming space for visitors and locals and a rest stop for travelers who are exploring the town in the Camotes Group of Islands.
The facility, which has an area of 171.10 square meters, will be located on a 9,088.40-square-meter lot. It is modern traveler hub that offers a wide range of services such as air-conditioned lounge areas, charging stations, a tourist information center, a mini-food court serving local dishes, coffee shops, and souvenir shops.
The Hapitanan sa Sugbo is also a solar-powered facility and is expected to significantly boost tourism and the local economy. With Camotes becoming a popular tourist destination, the Hapitanan sa Sugbo is expected to provide a more convenient and comfortable experience for both locals and visitors.
