The Cebu Provincial Government is ensuring that the delegation of Cebu Province will be able to give their best performance at the 2025 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet slated on March 11 to 16 in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.
Governor Gwen Garcia, in a meeting with Dr. Senen Paulin, Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd Cebu Province, said the Capitol will fully support the 675-strong Cebu Province delegation, paying for the athletes’ parade and playing uniforms, food during the training and competition days, transportation, toiletries, allowances and incentives for gold medal winners.
The week-long sporting event will see Cebu’s finest student-athletes compete against those from other provinces in the region like Bohol, Siquijor, and Negros Oriental; as well as from city divisions like Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Dumaguete City and others.
The delegates include athletes, coaches, and chaperons, as well as 288 support personnel like kitchen staff, security, coordinators, and communicators.
The athletes, who emerged as champions in the recently concluded Provincial Meet in the City of Naga, earned their right to represent Cebu Province at the CVIRAA.
To even motivate them, Governor Gwen said that the Capitol will provide incentives for gold medal winners.
Governor Gwen will also attend the opening ceremonies on March 11 in Bayawan City, boosting the morale of the student-athletes who will arrive at the venue as early as March 5 for trainings.
Dr. Paulin expressed his excitement for the Governor’s participation, noting how her presence would inspire the young athletes.
“Very excited. Morag ako lang, di ko katulog. Looking forward nga with Gov, waving her hand, unya mga bata makakita niya. It’s going to make a difference sa inspiration sa mga bata, encouragement sa mga bata nga gigahinan gyod sila og panahon ni Gov nga mosuporta nila and mo-cheer for them. She might not be there for the whole duration, but I know her presence will make a lasting impact sa mga bata,” he told 𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗯𝗼 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀.
The CVIRAA 2025 is not just a competition but a celebration of sportsmanship, talent, camaraderie, and unity among the provinces and cities in Central Visayas before the Negros Island Region takes effect, reducing this region to SugBohol — Cebu and Bohol. | MARM
