The Cebu Provincial Board, presided by Vice Gov. Hilario Davide III, passed in mass motion a resolution authorizing Gov. Gwen Garcia to request for exemption with the Commission on Elections Law Department for the Province of Cebu’s social welfare and services projects.
The move was initiated pursuant to Comelec Resolution 11060 for the May 12 midterm elections, particularly Section 11, “for requesting local chief executives, their authorities to request for exemption from their Sanggunians shall be attached to the request submitted to the Comelec Law Department.”
On Sept. 13, 2024, the poll body issued Comelec Resolution 11060 entitled, Rules and Regulations on the Prohibiton against the Release, Disbursement, or Expenditure of Public Funds for Social Services and Housing-related Projects, and Issuance of Treasury Warrants and similar devices under Secrions 261 (V) and (W) of the Omnibus Election Code in Connection with the May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections, and BARMM Parliamentary Elections.”
In order for the unhampered and continuous social welfare and services projects of the Province of Cebu during the 45 days preceeding a regular election, and in compliance with Comelec Resolution 11060, the PB has approved a resolution authorizing the governor to file for an exemption before the poll body. | via JTG / Vice Governor Junjun Davide
