Cebu continues to attract international attention for its best practices, as a 29-member delegation from Mongolia visited the province to explore potential collaborations.
Gov. Gwen Garcia met with the delegation, led by Bayangol District Vice Governor Dulamsuren Munkhbaatar, on Tuesday, February 8. Their visit focused on Cebu’s strengths in education, particularly its reputation as a top destination for English language learning.
Bayangol District is one of the 6 districts of Ulaanbaatar city center in Mongolia.
Impressed by the English proficiency of Cebuanos, the Mongolian officials are looking into opportunities for language training programs in the province. Gov. Gwen, however, is pushing for a broader partnership that goes beyond education.
Among the initiatives she proposed were establishing direct flights between Cebu and Mongolia, strengthening healthcare collaboration, and exploring other areas for mutual growth. The Governor has been actively seeking international partnerships to further boost Cebu’s tourism and economy.
Vice Governor Munkhbaatar welcomed the Governor’s proposal and expressed openness to further collaboration between Cebu and Mongolia.
Joining her in welcoming the Mongolian delegation were Provincial Board Member Glenn Soco, Capitol department heads, and Department of Tourism Regional Director Judy Dela Cruz Gabato. | BJR
