Governor Gwen Garcia met with officials from the Cebu City Traffic Office (CCTO), led by Pastor “Jongjong” Alcover II, to coordinate the carousel route for the upcoming street dancing competition of the Sinulog Festival on January 19.
The 6-kilometer street dancing route will start at P. Del Rosario Street. It will continue onto New Imus Road, then to General Maxilom Avenue, and proceed to Fuente Osmeña Circle.
The route will wrap up at Cebu City Sports Center where the contingents will take turns in presenting at the stage for the grand ritual showdown.
The meeting also gave the assurance that Cebu's main highway, Natalio Bacalso Avenue, will remain open during the Sinulog Sunday, as the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) is located along this major road that connects the north and the south of Cebu.
The Capitol-operated CSBT serves as a key pickup and drop-off point for travelers to and from the southern parts of Cebu.
Governor Garcia emphasized the importance of keeping N. Bacalso Ave. open to traffic in order to allow for the flow of buses that carry passengers to and from the city.
Alcover, who leads the CCTO’s Public Mass Transport Division, assured the Governor that they will heed her request and will keep N. Bacalso open to motorists, allowing buses to maintain their regular operations.
Preparations for the Sinulog Festival are in full swing, with officials working to ensure smooth traffic flow and efficient public transport, especially that 45 contingents will be participating in the Grand Sinulog competitions. | MARM
