CITY OF NAGA, CEBU – Gov. Gwen Garcia announced that for her 16th Sinulog dance offering next year at the Cebu City Sports Center, she will be joined by the award-winning Dagitab Festival Dancers of this city.
The Dagitab Festival is this year’s reigning Pasigarbo sa Sugbo champion.
The governor made this disclosure during the Dagitab Festival showdown on Monday night, December 23, at the Teodoro “Doring” Mendiola Sr. Sports Field and Track Oval.
She was joined here by Mayor Val Chiong, Board Member Glenn Soco, and Ako Bisaya Partylist second nominee Carissa Garcia.
The Sinulog dance offering is the Governor’s personal tradition that began in 2005 during her first term in office.
For this year 2024, she was joined on the Sinulog stage by Minglanilla’s Sugat Kabanhawan Festival, which was also the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2023 champion.
The governor’s participation in Sinulog has become a much-anticipated highlight of the Sinulog, reflecting her unwavering devotion to the Sto. Niño and her commitment to promoting Cebu’s vibrant cultural heritage.
Next year’s Sinulog Grand Ritual Showdown, under the direction of Cebu City Mayor Raymond Garcia, will be making its much-anticipated homecoming at the Cebu City Sports Center after two years of being held at the South Road Properties, much to the displeasure of the majority of the Cebuanos. | BJR
