PINAMUNGAJAN, CEBU — The Cebu Provincial Government has allocated ₱54 million in financial aid to the seven local government units (LGUs) of Cebu’s third legislative district.
Gov. Gwen Garcia personally handed the checks to the mayors and vice mayors during another Caravan of Government Services held at the municipal gym here on December 3.
Seven LGUs received ₱8 million, with ₱5 million intended for the projects of the mayor and another ₱3 million for the vice mayor’s office. These LGUs include Toledo City and the Municipalities of Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, Balamban, Asturias, and Tuburan.
The Municipality of Barili, for its part, received ₱6 million, with ₱5 million allocated for the projects of Mayor Pablo John G. Garcia IV; and ₱1 million for the projects of Vice Mayor Luisito Ponsica.
Mayor Marjorie P. Perales and Vice Mayor Jay Sigue received the checks on behalf of Toledo City while Mayor Jessica Baricuatro and Vice Mayor Glenn Baricuatro represented Pinamungajan.
Mayor Cesarie Ignatius G. Moreno and Vice Mayor Raisa Moreno received the checks for Aloguinsan; while Mayor Ace Stefan V. Binghay and Vice Mayor Alex Francis V. Binghay for Balamban.
Mayor Dana Andrew M. Dumdum and Vice Mayor Melvin Justin M. Labuca represented Asturias; while Mayor Democrito M. Diamante and Vice Mayor Danilo M. Diamante for Tuburan.
The Capitol’s financial assistance is intended solely for infrastructure development projects of the LGUs and is subject to usual COA auditing rules and regulations.
This part of the Capitol’s directive of equitably sharing resources among Cebu’s cities and municipalities, empowering the LGUs for the benefit of their constituents whose needs the local officials know best. | JMT
