The Ginatilan-Malabuyoc River Adventure (GIMARA), featuring the Kabutongan Falls, is now officially opened to the public.
Gov. Gwen Garcia joined Malabuyoc Mayor Erlinda Piedad and Ginatilan Mayor Roy Vincent Singco in the ceremonial reopening of southern Cebu’s newest tourism package today, November 30.
The opening day drew around 106 guests, including tourists and social media influencers who were very excited to experience the newly organized river adventure.
For as low as P1,250, GIMARA offers a unique experience of trekking, river jumping, and exploration of the picturesque Looc River and Kabutongan Falls cave system located in the joint jurisdictions of the two southern Cebu towns.
“Ang nakanindot ini, Malabuyoc ug Ginatilan, kay they opted to start right; nga ang pagsugod pa lang, insakto na. Gipahiluna na ang tanan aron dili ta mag-apas og magkorihir sa mga sayop. Busa, for two very small towns, what a blessing it is indeed that they are showing the way to go,” Gov. Gwen said in her speech.
Both Mayor Piedad and Mayor Singco expressed their gratitude to the Cebu Provincial Government for its full support in organizing the adventure tourism initiative.
“Niabli ta og balik, kanang organized na gyud, kanang kompleto na. Dawat ra gyod mi og limpyo. Thank you so much kaayo, Gov.,” Mayor Cinco said in her speech.
“Nindot kaayo karong hapona, buntaga, nagdasig ta, malipayon ta kay naila na gayod ang Malabuyoc. Naila tungod sa atong turismo, ang Ginatilan ug Malabuyoc River Adventure, GIMARA,” Mayor Piedad said.
GIMARA is expected to boost local revenue and enhance the visibility of both towns as premier adventure destinations in southern Cebu, where the nearby Kawasan Falls of Badian and canyoneering adventure trail of Alegria are also located.
Interested guests may book their adventure packages at the municipal halls of either Ginatilan or Malabuyoc.
Also in attendance were Congressman Peter John Calderon, Provincial Board Members Nick Pepito, Mike Villamor, Jerome Librando, Red Duterte, and Raymond Calderon; as well as the Governor’s daughter, Carissa.
