The agreement aims to preserve these natural attractions while promoting responsible tourism and providing livelihood opportunities for the local community.
The MOA sets strict guidelines for operating the river adventure activities, including trekking and other recreational ventures. It requires all tour guides, operators, and related businesses to secure accreditation from the Province of Cebu and the Department of Tourism (DOT).
The revenue will be transparently distributed among stakeholders, including a 50-50 sharing terms between the municipalities. The Cebu Provincial Government will also implement an online booking system to streamline operations.
Meanwhile, over a hundred tour guides who were duly trained and certified by the Department of Tourism were also registered under the Sugbo Segurado insurance system of the Capitol.
