In light of the reported water shortage in Carmen, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia has ordered the Provincial Engineering Office and the contractor of the water system project in Carmen, Cebu to fast track the completion of the project.
In the meeting at the Capitol Tuesday, April 18, the governor ordered that within the week, a water pump be added to the transmission pipe line to strengthen the water pressure so that water would reach the households in Carmen.
The governor expressed alarm when the water shortage issue was brought to her attention by Carmen Mayor Carlo Villamor, especially since Carmen is the main source of water for the Cebu Manila Water Development Inc. (CMWDI) which caters to Consolacion and Mandaue City areas.
“Prioridad man gyud ta ni ninyo. Inyong hunahunaon ang mga tawo nga nagkinahanglan og tubig,” the governor said during the meeting.
She said this is an urgent matter that has to be addressed as soon as possible especially that the summer season has already set in.
The governor said she is expecting an update of the situation within one week.
The meeting was also attended by BL Pangan Construction represented by Braulio Pangan and the Provincial Engineering Office. | Ulrika U. Wagas
