PILAR, CEBU — Fifteen graduates of Sugbo Kahanas program specializing in Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II finally received their starter toolkits and allowances from the Provincial Government and National Certificates (NCII) from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Gov. Gwen Garcia personally distributed the toolkits, which included welding machines and accessories, during the Caravan of Government Services held at the municipal gym here on November 27.
Each graduate also received training allowances worth P6,592 from the Capitol, along with five kilos of rice from the Ako Bisaya Partylist.
Their free skills training under Sugbo Kahanas lasted for 33 days and provided them with technical knowledge and competency in welding which they could use in landing gainful employment here and abroad; or in starting their own ventures, especially that they now have their own welding machines.
Sugbo Kahanas is a flagship program of the Cebu Provincial Government aimed at equipping Cebuanos with skills for employment or self-sustaining livelihoods. With a budget of P100 million this season, the program offers various technical and vocational training courses facilitated by tech-voc schools duly accredited by TESDA. | BJR
