Councilor Ronamarie Therese Guaren of Oslob and Councilor Ethel A. Gulane of the City of Bogo emerged as winners in the municipality and city categories, respectively, of the first-ever “Outstanding Lady Local Legislator Award” (OLLA) held on November 26.
The two officials headlined the lady legislators in Cebu Province who received the recognition from Gov. Gwen Garcia and Mandaue City Vice Mayor Nerissa Soon-Ruiz, president of the Lady Local Legislators League (4Ls) in Cebu Province, in a ceremony at the Capitol Social Hall.
The offices of Councilors Guaren and Gulane will each receive P500,000 worth of infrastructure projects to be funded by the Provincial Government and another P20,000 in cash from 4Ls Cebu Province.
Meanwhile, finalists in each category were also acknowledged for their exemplary service, with each of them receiving P100,000 worth of infrastructure projects from the Capitol and P10,000 in cash prizes from 4Ls Cebu.

This inaugural OLLA is the first of its kind in the country and highlighted the achievements of women in governance—a field traditionally dominated by men. It aims to recognize female lawmakers for their unwavering dedication to public service and their significant contributions to the development of their respective communities.
“Women are created with a DNA for public service. We are redefining pubic service,” Gov. Gwen said in her speech.
Also present during the ceremony were Board Member Tata Corominas-Toribio, as well as DILG regional director Leocadio Trovela, assistant regional director Atty. Ian Kenneth Lucero, and provincial director Dr. Jesus Robel Sastrillo. | BJR
