Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia met with a group of Cebuano vloggers who will serve as judges of the “Sugbo Vlog Challenge”, a contest designed to highlight the Capitol’s youth-driven initiatives toward sustainable development.
The meeting was held at the Capitol Gallery on November 26. It was also attended by DILG assistant regional director Atty. Ian Kenneth Lucero and Board Member Loren Singco, the provincial president of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in the province.
The “Sugbo Vlog Challenge”, which features 51 SK Federations from across the Province of Cebu, encourages the creation of original, engaging content that aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Judges will evaluate entries based on four key criteria: sustainability focus (30%), creativity and originality (30%), youth participation (25%), and engagement (15%).
The contest adheres to strict rules to ensure fairness and integrity, including prohibitions on plagiarism, collaborations with judges, and the boosting of posts.
Content must also comply with cultural and environmental guidelines, with disqualification for inappropriate submissions or negative online behavior.
The “Sugbo Vlog Challenge” is part of the Capitol’s ongoing efforts to involve youth in meaningful and impactful digital storytelling.
The contest, spearheaded by the office of Board Member Sinco, promises key infrastructure projects to the winning groups.
Ten winning SK Federations will be given one million pesos’ worth of infrastructure projects by the Capitol, as well as P100,000 in cash.
One more SK Federation, to be conferred the “People’s Choice Award”, will also secure a million-peso worth in infrastructure as well as P100,000 in cash. | JMT
