The Ginatilan-Malabuyoc River Adventure (GIMARA), featuring the Kabutongan Falls, is now all set for its grand opening on November 30, promising a thrilling experience for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike.
Gov. Gwen Garcia met with Malabuyoc Mayor Erlinda Piedad and Ginatilan Mayor Roy Vincent Singco, on November 20 at the Capitol to finalize preparations for the event, which is expected to attract both tourists and social media influencers alike.
For as low as P1,250, GIMARA offers a unique experience of trekking, river jumping, and exploration of the picturesque Kabutongan Falls cave system. Over a hundred tour guides, duly trained and certified by the Department of Tourism, will be available to ensure safety of the tourists through compliance with adventure tourism standards.
Interested guests may just proceed to either municipal halls of Ginatilan and Malabuyoc to book their individual or by-group adventure package.
Since the adventure itinerary is jointly located in Barangay Looc of both Malabuyoc and Ginatilan, the two LGUs will share responsibilities in managing the guests; as well as implement a 50-50 revenue split.
Nearby resorts are also offering promotional rates to encourage longer stays, making for a sweeter deal to visitors.
This reopening is expected to boost local revenue and enhance the visibility of both towns as premier adventure destinations in southern Cebu, where the nearby Kawasan Falls of Badian and canyoneering adventure trail of Alegria are also located.
Provincial tourism officer Marti Ybañez was also present at the meeting. | BJR
