Governor Gwen Garcia has encouraged all 51 Sanguniang Kabataan Federations in Cebu Province to actively participate in the Capitol’s revitalized school feeding program.
During a meeting at the Capitol’s Social Hall on October 29, the Governor urged SK Federation presidents, headed by SK Provincial Federation President and ex-officio Board Member Loren Singco, to engage in the meal preparations for their local students.
“Ang akong hangyo ninyo, SK Federation President sa kada lungsod, moapil sa school feeding program. Programa man gud ni sa mga batan-on, maong motabang mo,” Governor Gwen said, highlighting the program’s focus on youth involvement.
Gov. Gwen was joined by municipal and district officials at Basdiot Elementary School in Moalboal for the province-wide simultaneous launching of the Sugbo School Feeding Program Season 2 on October 28.
Under the program, the Capitol purchases rice which is then distributed equitably to all 1,517 public schools in Cebu Province. It will benefit 966,481 enrolled students for this school year, regardless of nutritional status, from Kindergarten to Grade 12; as school feeding is slated every school day for the entire school year, in close collaboration with the Parent-Teacher Association.
The program has also found strong support from the private sector, as San Miguel Foods has donated 10,000 kilos of premium Magnolia chicken, while Century Pacific donated 48,720 cans of Argentina beef loaf for the program. Globe Telecom shall donate one million pesos’ worth of rice; while the Bureau of Customs Port of Cebu already made their contribution of 300 sacks of rice for the program. | JMT
