The Municipality of Pinamungajan shall have the distinction of having the first Capitol-funded Tourist Rest Area (TRA) to be inaugurated in December this year.
The facility, patterned after the ones established by the Department of Tourism in strategic tourism hotspots in the country, is allocated P7-8 million by the provincial government.
Designed to be give comfortable service to travelers and tourists, the TRA will feature a tourist information center, lounge area, coffee shops, charging stations, clean restrooms, shower rooms, pasalubong centers, and ample parking space.
Mister Loo Philippines (MPL), the Capitol’s partner in providing cleaner restroom services at the Capitol-run bus terminals in Cebu City, will also come aboard and manage the rest room facilities of the TRA, providing tourists with comfortable and tech-enabled services.
On October 22, Gov. Gwen Garcia met MPL co-founder Dominik Schuler at the Capitol and discussed the matter as well as ironed out minor details in the partnership that is expected to cover the TRA in Pinamungajan and in other Capitol-funded TRAs in Cebu.
MLP is an innovative public toilet concept from Switzerland that aims to digitalize the public toilet sector. At the Capitol-run bus terminals, travelers have access to basic or premium restroom services for a minimal fee.
The meeting was also attended by Board Member Glenn Soco, MPL Regional Finance Head Monica Advento, MPL Cebu Manager Cristina Bulcan, and some Capitol department heads.
The TRA in Pinamungajan, which sits on a 1,332.2-square-meter area in Barangay Pandacan, will be managed by the LGU. | BJR
