The Suez Group presented to Gov. Gwen Garcia their amended unsolicited proposal for the long-awaited waste-to-energy (WTE) project in Cebu Province.
Project Development Director Kohei Kimura detailed the amendments during an Economic Enterprise Council (EEC) meeting, chaired by Gov. Gwen, at the Capitol on October 17.
It includes an incineration process, flue gas treatment system, leachate and wastewater treatment, fly ash stabilization and solidification, slag handling and utilization, and environmental protection measures for sea reclamation.
“It’s good to do business with you. I can sense the intent and the advocacy. The right people, at the right time, for the right reason,” Gov. Gwen said in the meeting.
The proposed facility is set to be built on a 7.6-hectare lot owned by the provincial government in Barangay Tinaan, City of Naga.
The parties are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding outlining their collaborative efforts and defining each party’s responsibilities and expectations. The terms of the MOU will be used as reference for the Swiss Challenge.
Last October 10, the Suez Group was awarded the “original proponent status” for the WTE project, giving them the right to match any lower-priced offers from competing investors in the Swiss Challenge.
