A new public market and a civic center will soon rise in Barangay Poblacion, Santander following the groundbreaking ceremony led by Governor Gwen Garcia, Congressman Edsel Galeos and Mayor Marites Buscato on Wednesday, October 16.
The two projects have an initial budget of P90 million. Of the amount, P40 million is allocated for the public market, sourced from the Department of Public Works and Highways’ Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (FALGU).
The remaining P50 million, to be spent for the civic center, is sourced from the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s FALGU program.
The facilities, with identical land area of 1,300 square meters, shall serve as central hubs for commerce and public services in this southernmost LGU, enhancing the local economy and addressing the needs of the people.
Mayor Buscato thanked the Governor for the assistance extended to the town, particularly in helping push through with the expropriation proceedings covering the lots where the facilities will be constructed.
Also present were second district Board Members Raymond Calderon and Stanley Caminero, CPPO Director Col. Percival Zorilla, and key municipal officials. | via BJR
