The Cebu Provincial Government, headed by Governor Gwen Garcia, welcomed a delegation of investors and businessmen from the Czech Republic, led by Her Excellency Marketa Pekarova Adamova, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies.
They gathered for a business forum with officials and members of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Capitol’s own business partners to discuss possible areas of investments available for them in Cebu.
One of the presentations highlighted the 150-megawatt solar power plant being constructed in the Municipality of Daanbantayan, developed in partnership between the Capitol and Spanish firm Acciona Energia.
Cebu Province also showcased its collaboration with Cebu South Harbor and Container Terminal Corporation in enhancing the Capitol’s assets, particularly the ports of Cebu.
While the business forum was ongoing, a bilateral meeting with the Czech Republic delegation took place in the Capitol Gallery. Governor Gwen Garcia, Vice Governor Hilario Davide III, and the Provincial Board Members exchanged insights with the Czech delegation regarding Cebu’s industries, tourism, economy, business climate, and healthcare system.
“I find it great to meet inspirational and motivated people who are working towards developing mutually prosperous trade,” said Speaker Adamova during the forum.
Governor Garcia expressed her enthusiasm about the opportunity to meet the business delegation from the Czech Republic, urging them to invest in the province and share their best practices with the Cebuanos.
“It is by no accident that I am here, answering the invitation of His Excellency, our beloved President Ferdinand ‘Bong-Bong’ Marcos Jr., to come to the Philippines. Your entire delegation not only accepted the invitation and arrived in Manila but also decided to come to Cebu. There is a special bond that ties us as women leaders,” Gov. Gwen told the Speaker Adamova in her speech. | JMT
