The celebration of town fiesta in Samboan southern Cebu last September 29 was indeed a happy occasion as Gov. Gwen Garcia graced the staging of the town’s beautiful “Dagayday Festival” competition.
Held at the town plaza, with the old Church structure as backdrop, Dagayday Festival was a showcase of 5 contingents from clustered barangays of the municipality in honor of its patron saint, the Archangel Michael.
In her delight at the performances, Gov. Gwen announced that the Capitol is setting aside P300,000 for each of the five contingents to help defray the cost of expenses.
On the part of the municipality, Mayor Emerito “Tito” Calderon Jr. received checks worth P1.5 million as aid for the town’s socio-cultural activities.
“Dagayday”, in Cebuano, means the flow of water gushing forth from a spring or waterfall. This is the town’s tribute to the abundance of waterfalls in the town, 11 of which have been identified by the LGU as fit for tourism activities — the more famous of which are Aguinid, Dau, and Binalayan waterfalls. | via CBC
