Ricarda Saso, a 100-year-old resident of Catmon, received a check worth P100,000 from the Cebu Provincial Government in recognition of her contributions and long-standing service to the community.
The check was personally handed by Gov. Gwen Garcia during the Caravan of Government Services held at the D.M. Reynes Gymnasium on September 27.
Lola Ricarda, born on June 9, 1924, revealed that the key to her longevity is her healthy habits, which she continues to maintain to this day.
She also received family food packs and P2,000 in cash assistance from DSWD Region 7, along with 15 kilos of rice provided by Congressman Duke Frasco, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Ako Bisaya Partylist as well as vitamins, seedlings, and an Abag Sugbo card. The card provides her with free access to medical checkups and medications in any of the 16 Capitol-run provincial and district hospitals.
Her guardian was also awarded a certificate of entitlement under the Capitol’s Sugbo Kahanas program, which offers free technical and vocational training to beneficiaries. | BJR
