SAN FRANCISCO, CEBU — Sen. Robin Padilla joined Gov. Gwen Garcia in inspecting the ongoing works at the Camotes Island Airport here today, April 15.
The senator said he will allocate funds next year for the ongoing works in the airport which now has a paved runway that measures 1,200 meters.
“Asahan nyo po ako, mahal na governor, na katulong nyo po ako dito sa mga proyekto nyo sa airport,” Sen. Padilla said in his speech.
”Maaaring hindi po ngayong 2023, pero sa 2024 ay kami po ni governor ay mag-uusap patungkol po sa inyong mga pangangailangan dito,” he added.
The airport runway can accommodate private and small planes that can carry 70 to 80 persons. The airport sits on a lot owned by the Cebu Provincial Government.
It still lacks a terminal building and other facilites, which Mactan Cebu International Airport General Manager Julius Neri Jr. hoped that Capitol and the senator may be of help.
The governor said Capitol will certainly help the MCIA in developing the airport especially that it would greatly help Camotes in attracting more domestic and international tourists.
“Nakikita na talaga. It’s shaping up. Whoever thought that Camotes will now have an airport, but it is already happening,” the governor said. | Ioannes P. Arong
