In addition to a newly completed hospital extension building, the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City (CPH Bogo) is the latest Capitol-run hospital to have acquired a hemodialysis center of its own.
The 15-unit hemodialysis center was blessed and inaugurated on September 26 in time for the blessing and inauguration of the new “Raci Franco Building” at CPH Bogo.
Gov. Gwen Garcia, Bogo City Mayor Carlo Jose Martinez, and Sen. Risa Hontiveros led the inauguration of this important facility in northern Cebu for renal patients in need of constant dialysis treatment.
“This dialysis center holds a special place in our hearts because, for one, the late Mayor Junie died while undergoing dialysis treatment,” an emotional Mayor Martinez said during the ceremony.
Mayor Junie, or Mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr., the father of Mayor Carlo, was Bogo City’s long-time mayor and a former congressman representing the fourth district. He passed away June last year.
“Now, we are very privileged to finally have these dialysis machines, well supported by the Province of Cebu,” the younger Mayor Martinez added.
As of today, the Cebu Provincial Government is operating an accumulated 92 hemodialysis units across six Capitol-run hospitals, including CPH Bogo, making it the biggest hemodialysis operator among all LGUs of the country today.
The other dialysis units are stationed at CPH Balmaban with 25 units; CPH Carcar with 17; CPH Danao with 15; Bantayan District Hospital with 10; and the Ricardo Maningo Memorial Hospital in Camotes with 10.
The hemodialysis center at CPH Bogo is the latest expansion of the partnership between Cebu Province and Medtronix Medical Supplies and Equipment, represented by proprietor Jona Navarro. The firm provides 82 of the 92 hemodialysis machines in Capitol-run hospitals.
Being fully accredited by PhilHealth, the Capitol-run hemodialysis centers offer 156 dialysis treatment sessions fully covered by Philhealth. | JMT
