Acting Governor Hilario Davide III called a coordination meeting in preparation for the Capitol’s hosting of the Cebu leg of “Handog ng Pangulo” nationwide distribution of government assistance.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) assistant regional director Atty. Ian Kenneth Lucero and Presidential Management Staff director Atty. Jared Gullas joined Capitol department heads, led by Provincial Administrator Lilia Villasin, in the meeting held at the Acting Governor’s conference hall at the Legislative Building earlier today.
“Handog ng Pangulo,” is set to take place simultaneously across the country on September 13, and will involve multiple national government agencies in providing various forms of aid to beneficiaries.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself will lead the event in Gimba, Nueva Ecija, while the Cebu leg will be held at the Capitol Grounds.
Participating agencies include the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The assistance covers a range of programs, such as TESDA’s distribution of allowances to scholars; DOLE’s orientation and profiling of enrollees for its employment programs; DA’s distribution of farming machineries; and DTI’s support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through its “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” initiative.
DSWD will also offer its own programs to further extend support to vulnerable sectors of society.
To ensure the event runs smoothly in Cebu, personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Joint Task Group (AFP-JTG) and Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) will be deployed to manage peace and order situation.
