In recognition of the unwavering support that the Cebu City Government extended to the Cebu Provincial Government’s staging of the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2024, the Capitol donated P3 million to the City Hall.
The donation also served as a gesture of gratitude for the all-out commitment that Cebu City demonstrated in ensuring the success of the Festival of Festivals held on August 25 and 26 in the Queen City of the South.
Gov. Gwen Garcia, along with the Provincial Board Members, handed the check to Cebu City Administrator Atty. Kristine Joyce Batucan who represented Acting Mayor Raymond Garcia during the “Gabii sa Pasalamat” at the Capitol Social Hall on August 31.
Cebu City Tourism Officer Neil Odchigue detailed the extensive participation undertaken by the City Hall, which included the deployment of 279 traffic personnel, 8 mobile patrols, and 124 disaster risk reduction officers along the street-dancing route.
Another 244 members from the local school board gave civil works assistance, and 268 maintenance personnel were tasked with managing 306 portalets and portabaths — at the Cebu City Sports Center, venue of the ritual showdown competition; and at the 30 DepEd schools in the city that billeted the 51 contingents from all over the Province.
Cebu City deployed its manpower from the start of rehearsals in the days leading up to the event; during the grand festival showdown on August 25 at CCSC and the awarding ceremony on August 26; as well as the post-Pasigarbo after-care activities. | BJR
