Cebu has been recognized as Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination for 2024 by the prestigious World Travel Awards, often called the "Oscars of the travel industry."
Vice-Governor Hilario Davide III and Board Member Red Duterte accepted the award on behalf of Governor Gwen Garcia and the Province of Cebu today, September 3, at the City of Dreams in Pasay City.
The Philippines hosted the prestigious travel and tourism awards gala ceremony for the first time, where the best destinations, hotels, airlines, and travel providers across the region were honored. During the event, the Philippines was honored as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination (for the sixth consecutive year since 2019), Asia’s Leading Beach Destination and Asia’s Leading Island Destination, along with other awards for the other destinations in the country.
A special award was also given to Cebu's pride, Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco for her transformational leadership in the Department of Tourism, citing her outstanding contributions, vision, and initiatives that have set "a new benchmark in tourism leadership, not just in the Philippines but across Asia and Oceania.”
