The Cebu Provincial Government is set to highlight its western treasures in another installment of the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo, this time, offering “The Best of the West.”
During a coordination meeting called by Gov. Gwen Garcia at the Capitol on Wednesday, the 3-day tourism caravan is slated on July 12 to July 14, promoting Cebu’s cultural and natural wonders in the Midwestern Cebu.
The meeting was attended by Board Member and PB committee on tourism chairman Red Duterte; Toledo City Mayor Marjorie Perales, Pinamungahan Mayor Jessica Baricuatro, Aloguinsan Mayor Cesare Ignatius Moreno, Balamban Mayor Ace Stefan Binghay, Tabuelan Mayor Raul Gerona, Aloguinsan Mayor Dana Andrew Dumdum, Tuburan Vice Mayor Danilo Diamante, and Provincial Tourism Officer Marti Ybañez; as well as tourism officers and hotel and resort operators.
The “Suroy-Suroy Sugbo: The Best of the West” will have a packed itinerary designed to captivate participants. Balamban is part of the itinerary, where visitors will tour the renowned shipyard, a significant industrial hub in the province.
In Tuburan, guests will experience the local coffee culture firsthand at a scenic mountain café.
Asturias will showcase its cacao products and the popular street delicacy, “bingka dawa.”
Aloguinsan promises an immersive visit to Hermit’s Cove and the Bojo River, celebrated as one of the Best Tourism Villages in 2021.
Pinamungahan and Tabuelan will treat participants to culinary delights and other local attractions; while Toledo City will feature the Capilla Santa Ana Museums and Labyrinth, boasting nearly a thousand religious relics and offering picturesque photo opportunities in its labyrinth.
Governor Gwen emphasized the importance of providing a top-tier tourism experience for all participants, encouraging local hotel and resort owners to offer five-star accommodations.
“We are now setting the standard. Do it the Cebuano way,” she said.
To support the event, Governor Gwen pledged a P500,000 subsidy to each of the seven participating LGUs in order to ensure a successful showcase of Cebu’s western attractions. | JT
