TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL -- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. presented a check worth P50 million pesos to Governor Gwen Garcia as financial assistance to almost 30,000 farmers in Cebu who were affected by the El Niño phenomenon.
During the ceremonial distribution of Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolks and Families in Region 7 held in Carlos Garcia Sports Complex in the Province of Bohol on Friday, June 28, 2024, 10 farmers and fishermen from One Camotes Island towns of Pilar, Tudela, Poro and San Francisco received P10,000 each from the President himself.
They are Bryan Amancio, Isidro Luchavez and Rinan Otida from the municipality of San Francisco; Esteneli Gallo, Venus Granada, Rita Sixto from Poro; Joselito Huete, Fransito Garciano from Tudela; and Dominador Montes and Raul Coraza from the Municipality of Pilar.
The Province's Agriculture Office submitted a list of affected farmers in the Province which, based on the data the office gathered from the municipal and city agriculture offices, reached up to 30,945. But after going through review and verification, the DA Regional Office narrowed down the number to nearly 30,000 farmers.
After addressing the delegates of United Nations Tourism Organization Joint Forums in Sheraton Hotel on Friday morning, the President flew to Bohol along with Governor Garcia for the Ceremonial Distribution of the President's Assistance to farmers and fisherfolks from the different local government units in Central Visayas.
In Bohol, the President was joined by Agriculture Sec. Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.; DSWD Sec. Rex Gatchalian; Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr.; DILG Sec. Benjamin Abalos, Jr,; and Cebu second district Congressman Edsel Galeos. | PIO
