𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐀, 𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐔 — The Cebu Provincial Government has provided another batch of local government units (LGUs) with financial assistance during the Caravan of Government Services here.
The LGUs include the cities of Talisay, Naga, and Carcar; and the municipalities of Minglanilla, San Fernando, and Sibonga.
Each LGU received 5-million-peso checks from Gov. Gwen Garcia: P2 million of which is allocated for infrastructure projects and an additional P3 million for their calamity funds.
The checks were received by Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas, Minglanilla Mayor Rajiv Enad, City of Naga Mayor Valdemar Chiong, San Fernando Mayor Mytha Ann Canoy, Carcar City Mayor Patrick Barcenas, and Sibonga Mayor Lionel Bacaltos.
First district Congresswoman Rhea Mae Gullas, as well as Board Members Raul Bacaltos and Stanley Caminero were also present during the Caravan.
The P3 million calamity funds were released in response to the devastating effects of El Niño after the Capitol as declared in the State of Calamity in Cebu through Executive Order No. 9, series of 2024.
The utilization of these funds will be subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules as outlined in the NDRRMC-DBM-DILG JMC No. 2013-1.
In addition, Governor Gwen also handed P200,000 to 18 barangays of the district, or 3 barangays from each of the 6 LGUs, for their infrastructure projects.
In total, this amounts to 33.6 million pesos in financial support for the LGUs of the first district of Cebu.
This assistance from the Capitol aims to improve and develop the LGUs while simultaneously helping to alleviate the lives of the Cebuanos. | via JT
