PORO, CEBU - Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia was left emotional and amazed as the One Camotes Island jingle was unveiled during the final stop of the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Enchanting One Camotes Island tour.
The jingle symbolizes the unity of the four municipalities on the Island of Camotes – San Francisco, Poro, Tudela, and Pilar. It highlights how unity leads to development and improves the lives of residents.
Governor Gwen, who has been championing the unity of local government units for One Camotes Island, couldn’t hold back tears after hearing the jingle and witnessing the spectacular performance by the locals.
In her speech, Governor Gwen described it as “the most wonderful, touching, and funtastic expression of unity right here in Camotes Island.”
She also expressed her gratitude to all the LGUs for making the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo One Camotes Island leg a memorable and successful event, from the beautiful scenery to the delicious food prepared by residents.
Governor Gwen announced that the Cebu Provincial Capitol would provide 3 million pesos to each LGU in Camotes Island as financial aid for their efforts in making the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Enchanting One Camotes Island a fantastic experience.
The mayors also celebrated Governor Gwen on Mother’s Day by presenting her favorite flower, the White Phalaenopsis or moth orchid, as a token of appreciation for her dedication as the top governor in the Philippines and a caring mother to all Cebuanos. | JT
