Gov. Gwen Garcia expressed her satisfaction towards the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the progress of road-widening and -asphalting project from Bolinawan, Carcar City to Poblacion, Sibonga.
“Isn’t it for once, so good to feel nga naa mo’y nahimo nga something which is out of the ordinary, nga ni-level up mo sa challenge?” Gov. Gwen told DPWH officials present, headed by second district project engineer, Engr. Dave Ocampo.
The meeting was also attended by various stakeholders including fifth district Board Member Red Duterte; and officials from telco and utility providers.
Gov. Gwen praised the collaboration of all sectors involved in expediting the improvements and emphasized the importance of teamwork in overcoming challenges, such as managing the traffic congestion in the south due to road works.
She expressed optimism that these projects will bring about positive changes for Cebu and credited the collective effort of the team for achieving what was once deemed impossible.
“What a complete turnaround. I hope this signals the start of the good image of DPWH,” the governor added.
Engr. Ocampo, during an interview told 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐨𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬: “If naa lang gyoy cooperation, coordination, nothing is impossible sa atoa. Let’s make Cebu a better place for Cebuanos.”
He also acknowledged the intervention of the governor which turned out to be a blessing in disguise for pushing them to do more.
“At first, morag nakulbaan gyod mi, nakuyawan mi, pero karon na-realize namo nga it’s a blessing in diaguise, kay sa intervention ni Gov. Gwen, didto nagkahiusa ang tanan nga behind sa pagtrabaho,” Ocampo said.
As of this writing, progress has already been made with the relocation of CEBECO posts that stand along the national highway of Carcar City to San Fernando. Trees that are to be affected by the project have already been identified, with preparations underway for securing cutting permits from pertinent agencies. | MARM
