Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) chief of hospital Dr. Gerardo M. Aquino Jr., expressed his gratitude to the Cebu Provincial Government for opening at least five dialysis centers in Capitol-run hospitals all over Cebu.
For VSMMC, this is a big help because as a Renal Care and Transplant Center in Central Visayas, the hospital gets swamped with dialysis patients who wait in long queues for their turn to be treated on a daily basis.
With the establishment of Capitol-run dialysis centers in strategic locations in the province, Dr. Aquino said at least they would not have to worry about Cebuanos from the province as they can get the treatment they deserve from centers near them.
It is worth noting the VSMMC’s partner in dialysis treatment procedure, Medtronix Medical Supplies and Equipment, is also the Capitol’s partner in its dialysis centers, thus ensuring that the quality of dialysis treatment offered at VSMMC is the same quality available at the Capitol-run dialysis centers
Dr. Aquino, with DOH Usec and concurrent regional director Dr. Jaime Bernadas, attended the blessing and formal opening of the 10-unit Hemodialysis Center at the Capitol-run Bantayan District Hospital yesterday, March 21.
It was the Capitol’s the fifth dialysis center after the ones placed at the Cebu Provincial Hospitals in Balamban, Carcar, Danao, and the district hospital in San Francisco, Camotes. All in all, they have a total of 60 dialysis machines, almost doubling VSMMMC’s 35 available dialysis units.
“Kining gibuhat ni Gov. Gwen nga in one year’s span naay upat ka dialysis centers, wala ni mabuhat sa ubang probinsya all over the Philippines,” Dr. Aquino said.
“Pang-Guinness Book of World Records pod ni,” he added, referring to the country’s successful setting of the Guinness World Record on March 16 for the largest human lung formation. | IPA
