The Cebu Provincial Government has made a significant increase in its share from the gross revenues collected from automated ticket convenience and maintenance fees of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) and Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT).
The gross revenue share from these fees has been raised from 2 percent to 2.5 percent, marking a notable uptick in the Capitol’s earnings from these vital transportation hubs.
The amended share adjustment will kick off on July 1 this year.
The decision was made during the Capitol’s Economic Enterprise Council meeting on March 19, attended by Erik Lim, president of Topline Hi-Tech Synergy Corporation, the automated ticketing provider for both the CSBT and CNBT.
The decision to raise the revenue share comes as part of the Capitol’s ongoing efforts to maximize revenue generation while simultaneously enhance the quality of services provided to Cebuano commuters.
With the steady rise in passenger traffic in both terminals, this move is expected to contribute substantially to the provincial coffers.
Moreover, as part of its commitment to improving facilities and amenities at the CNBT, Lim in his presentation said they have initiated a series of upgrades aimed at enhancing overall commuter experience.
These upgrades include the installation of a covered walkway, modern ticketing booths, and the integration of devices to streamline ticketing and boarding processes.
Notably, the ongoing enhancements at the CNBT extend beyond facility improvements, with a keen focus on optimizing operational efficiency and passenger convenience.
The covered walkway will shield commuters from inclement weather conditions, while the new ticketing booths and devices are set to expedite ticket purchases and boarding procedures.
The decision to engage Topline as the automated ticketing provider underscores the Capitol’s commitment to embrace innovative solutions to modernized public transportation infrastructure and elevate the standard of services offered to commuters. | Carlo Lorenciana
