The Capitol’s vigorous campaign to bring dialysis treatment closer to the people is unrelenting, as Gov. Gwen Garcia revealed that the Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH) in Bogo City shall have its own Dialysis Center very soon.
Gov. Garcia made the pronouncement during the Caravan of Services held at the Bogo City Sports Complex on March 20, the first time that the Caravan was held in this northern city of the province.
“Kon ako lang ang pabut-on, ugma dayon na ibutang,” Gov. Garcia told Bogo City Mayor Carlo Jose Martinez, Vice Mayor Maria Cielo Martinez, and members of the city council who were present during the Caravan.
Fifteen dialysis machines shall be put up in Bogo — the same number of dialysis machines placed at CPH Danao and CPH Carcar. There are also 10-unit dialysis centers in each of the CPH Balamban and the Capitol-run Ricardo Maningo Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, Camotes.
“Ako na’ng isaad, ug ang saad angay’ng tumanon. Buhaton nato’ng tanan,” Gov. Garcia said.
The announcement came barely an hour after Gov. Gwen inaugurated the 10-unit dialysis center at the Bantayan District Hospital in Bantayan Island.
All in all, the Capitol currently has five dialysis centers in strategic locations, with an accumulated 60 dialysis machines serving the Cebuanos. CPH Bogo shall be the Capitol’s sixth dialysis center.
“Sayod ko sa matag adlaw nga madelantar ang atong pagbutang anang mga dialysis units, pun-an na sab ang pag-antos sa atong mga kaigsuonan,” Gov. Garcia said, adding that the Capitol is doing its best to expedite the process.
The governor said she came to a resolution to also put up a dialysis center in Bogo City after receiving reports that the dialysis center at CPH Danao has already long queueing lines for patients awaiting their turn to be treated.
Capitol-run dialysis centers are considerably cheaper than private dialysis centers. Moreover, through the Capitol’s Abag Sugbo Program, PWDs and indigent dialysis patients shall be given free dialysis treatment in the Capitol’s dialysis centers. | Mary Ann Malaya
