An expansive and fully-furnished Phase 1 of Samboan Public Market was inaugurated on Tuesday, March 12, by Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia, Vice Gov. Hilario Davide III, and Mayor Emerito Calderon Jr.
The new two-level Samboan Public Market, situated in Barangay Poblacion, was completed with an P18 million budget for its construction — P10 million of which was funded by the Capitol.
Seventh district Congressman Peter John Calderon, second district Board Members Raymond Calderon and Stanley Caminero, as well as the members of the municipal council of Samboan were also present during the occasion.
The modern market building features a wet area on the ground floor, flanked by comfort rooms, while dry goods are housed on the second floor.
This market promises to be a well-maintained and orderly hub for both consumers and traders in Samboan town, a center of commerce in this southern Cebu LGU.
Additionally, on the same day, Governor Gwen and vice Gov. Davide spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony for the forthcoming Phase 2 of Samboan Public Market.
Another P10 million was shelled out by the provincial government for the project, bringing the total aid for Samboan to P20 million.
