SAN FRANCISCO, CAMOTES -- The Provincial Government of Cebu will be extending financial subsidies worth P600,000 for each of the four LGUs of Camotes Islands.
The assistance will be used by the Municipalities of Pilar, Poro, San Francisco, and Tudela in their preparations for the upcoming “Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Enchanting Camotes” offering slated this May 11 to 12.
Gov. Gwen Garcia announced this during a coordination meeting with tourism stakeholders in Camotes, including tourism officers, resort owners, and mayors on Wednesday, February 21, as part of her two-day visit here.
While she lauded the four towns for the commendable Suroy-Suroy offerings last year, Gov. Gwen urged them not to “rest on your laurels” and challenged them to continue leveling up.
She specifically noted that there was no single complaint from the participants last year during their Suroy-Suroy in Camotes, something which she wants to be maintained all throughout.
Scheduled to host around 700 guests, the Suroy-Suroy Enchanting Camotes promises an immersive exploration of the beauty and culture of the group of islands of Cebu’s fifth district.
The two-day itinerary will commence in the island town of Pilar, with participants then crossing to San Francisco for an overnight stay.
The journey continues the next day in Tudela and concludes in the town of Poro.
Alongside the breathtaking landscapes and seascapes, participants can expect to indulge in rich island cuisine and experience the cultural heritage of Camotes through various showcases and masterpieces prepared by each LGU.
The Capitol-funded financial aid underscores the commitment of the Provincial Government to bolstering tourism initiatives in the province.
With meticulous planning and generous support, the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Enchanting Camotes is poised to offer yet another unforgettable experience for all participants, celebrating the beauty and culture of one of Cebu’s tourism gems.
