Gov. Gwen Garcia will not be the only government official who will offer a Sinulog dance during the Sinulog sa Lalawigan this coming Sunday, January 14.
She announced during today’s final coordination meeting that she will be accompanied in dancing the Sinulog by Cebu City Vice Mayor Raymond Garcia and Cebu City Councilor Joy Pesquera.
Members of the Provincial Board as well as Capitol Department Heads have also been practicing the dance routine of the Sinulog.
And since they will be joining the governor in dancing with the Sugat Kabanhawan Festival of the Municipality of Minglanilla, the champions of the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2023, it is but proper that Minglanilla Mayor Rajiv Enad join them on the dance floor too.
“Nagpasalamat ko sa atong hiniusang paningkamot nga ang Sinulog sa Lalawigan mahimong usa ka dakong pagsaulog sa atong pagpangga, pagmahal, ug pagtuo sa atong minahal nga Sr. Sto. Nino,” Gov. Gwen said during the meeting at the Capitol Social Hall.
Gov. Gwen also encouraged spectators to bring their Sto. Niño statues as everybody in the venue will be encouraged to offer a Sinulog Dance during the finale of the celebration.
Sinulog sa Lalawigan is participated by 16 competing contingents from Cebu LGUs, including the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue. Cebu City’s Tribu Lumad Basakanon, like Minglanilla, will perform as guest contingent.
The street dancing will start at 3 o’clock in the afternoon while the Sinulog Dance Festival Showdown will commence at 6 o’clock in the evening. | Jude Torres
