In order to facilitate public convenience during the Sinulog sa Lalawigan later this month, the Capitol is asking the Cebu City Hall that vendors be allowed inside the venue of the grand showdown which is Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
“I was hoping that we could offer this bisan na lang makatabang-tabang sa atong mgahotels or even food kay affordable man kaayo na inyung mga baligya,” Gov. Gwen said in a meeting attended by officials of Hotel, Resort, and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. (HRRACI), as well as representatives of Jollibee, Chowking, and Mang Inasal.
The governor called on the fast-food chains to be the supplier of the meals for over 1,500 personnel who will be working to ensure the success of the Sinulog sa Lalawigan on January 14.
Of the figure, at least 1,100 shall be uniformed personnel who will be deployed along the street dancing route (from the Capitol all the way to the CCSC). They will be composed of the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, and the Philippine National Police from the region (PRO 7), province (CPPO), and Cebu City (CCPO).
The Capitol shall likewise deploy at least 400 of its personnel who will serve as primary and support staff during the Capitol-led program.
If she would have her way, she would like for these fast-food chains, including HRACCI, to set up booths inside CCSC, formerly known as Abellana Sports Complex, so that spectators and performers alike could easily buy something to eat; and for tourists to easily book an accommodation.
The governor is still awaiting final word from City Hall regarding the matter, as per her telephone conversation with Cebu City Vice Mayor Raymond Garcia during the same meeting.
CCSC has a spectator capacity of at least 10,000, according to the number of bleachers on the grand stand. The governor, however, said the public is very much welcome inside the venue as the province looks to give them an excellent performance reminiscent of the Sinulog days of old. | Babe Jane Revecoy
