The last Suroy-Suroy Sugbo package for Midwestern Cebu LGUs was way back in 2011 during Gov. Gwen Garcia's third term.
And yet Midwest did not disappoint as Gov. Gwen Garcia and Congressman Pablo John Garcia led a delegation of Suroy-Suroy guests into this part of the province primarily known for its heavy industries, bannered by the shipyards of Balamban and large scale mining in Toledo City.
From June 10 to 12, guests were treated to various delights of the Midwest, such as Tuburan coffee atop a breathtaking mountain cafe, the various cacao products of Asturias, Aloguinsan’s Hermit’s Cove and the Bojo River Cruise; and the sumptuous feasts prepared by Tabuelan and Pinamungajan, among various other gems.
There were also guided tours in at the Tsuneishi shipyard of Balamban and Carmen Copper of Toledo City.
“When we challenge the Sugbuanon, the Sugbuanon will rise up and show what stuff we are made of. When we are asked to level up, we level up beyond expectations,” Gov. Garcia said in her closing speech during Toledo City’s staging of the majestic Hinulawan Festival.
