The first day of March this year made Riza Mae Montayre of Subangdaku, Mandaue City a proud owner of a brand new red Toyota Vios.
Montayre, with her husband and daughter, personally appeared before Gov. Gwen Garcia and members of the Provincial Board to claim her prize for being the grand winner of the electronic raffle draw for Sinulog sa Carmen online voters.
“Ikaw gyud, Riza, ang gipili sa Señor Sto. Niño,” the governor said in her speech. “Miracles can happen every day.”
Her husband Jeffrey was also enrolled in the driving course of the Capitol’s Sugbo Kahanas program so that he could make a living from driving the car; while Riza was also included in the Sugbo Negosyo program which would give her not only capital for business but entrepreneurial trainings as well.
Aside from Montayre, 31 lucky winners also claimed their prizes from Capitol. Ten of them won Panasonic double door refrigerator; while another ten brought home Samsung tower speakers.
Six received gift checks for staycations in posh resorts and hotels; while the remaining five received 55-inch 4K Devant Smart TVs.
The winners were the lucky ones from 4471 online voters who correctly chose the winning contingents in the Free Interpretation and Sinulog-based Categories of the Sinulog sa Carmen golden anniversary celebration in January this year.
