Gov. Gwen Garcia has asked forgiveness from a dialysis patient who sought treatment at the Carcar Provincial Hospital but was asked to buy some supplies for the treatment.
“Mangayo kog pasaylo sa mga pasyenteng gipang-charge-an didtos Carcar Provincial Hospital. Sukad karon, kinahanglan dili gayud pabayron ang atong mga dialysis patients,” Gov. Garcia said in her speech at the Caravan of Provincial Government Services in Alcantara, southern Cebu today, Nov. 9.
The dialysis patient was able to tell the governor his ordeal as he was also a wheelchair beneficiary at the Caravan. The governor shared in her speech that the patient-beneficiary was asked to buy some supplies because the hospital had no stocks.
The Cebu Provincial Government operates three dialysis centers in its three Provincial hospitals: a ten-unit dialysis center at the Balamban Provincial Hospital; and 15-unit dialysis centers for both the Carcar and Danao Provincial Hospitals in southern and northern sides of Cebu respectively.
“Busa, i-anunsyo ko kini karon, ug kanang Carcar, paminaw mo diha, dili angay nga pabayron ang pasyente sa bisag unsang supply kay libre ka na. Ang Probinsya sa Sugbo man gyud ang mopalit niana,” she said at the Alcantara Civic Center.
She said the hospital’s neglect in failing to ensure that supplies and medicines are available should not be placed as an additional burden on patients. She further directs Capitol hospitals to charge her office instead.
“Kung wa maapil na sa budget adtong Carcar Provincial Hospital, i-charge sa Opisina sa Gobernador,” she said. “Simple raman na kaayo na.” | IPA
