Something is brewing in all public schools of Cebu, as Gov. Gwen Garcia envisions that no learner should come to class hungry.
In the coming days, the Capitol will launch its province-wide feeding program that will be implemented in over 1400 public schools all over Cebu.
Unlike other feeding programs whose beneficiaries are chosen according to their nourishment classification, the Capitol’s feeding initiative will not discriminate anyone of the over 878,000 Cebuano students enrolled in DepEd, from Kindergarten to senior high school.
NFA 7 Director Marie Fe Evasco, in a meeting at the Capitol on Wednesday, November 8, reassured the governor that the agency will be able to comply with the rice requirements to carry out the program until the end of DepEd’s school year next year.
Gov. Garcia also reminded the officers of the Parent–Teacher Association to observe cleanliness in the preparation of food to be served to the students, and to make it more sustainable and nutritious by utilizing the harvests of Sugbusog gardens of every school.
As added aid for schools, the Capitol has also procured materials needed for the program, such as cauldrons, bowls, and utensils. | Babie Jane Revecoy
